Yip Man (Zhongshan, Hong Kong, 6 november 1893 – 2 december 1972) (, Guangdong, Nanhai, Luocunzhen), also written as Ip Man and also known as Yip Kai-Man, was a Chinese martial artist. He had several students, including the famous actor Bruce Lee.
Yip man was a Wing Chun master who during the RAID of the Japanese in China ensured that friends, family and acquaintances learned themselves defend against looters and the Japanese army. After the end of the Japanese occupation, Yip Man started a private Kung Fu school in Hong Kong.
Through more than 20 years has bet the Wing Chun Yip Man branch of Kung Fu worldwide published and over 15 million people practicing Wing Chun.
Yip Man was married to Cheung Wing Sing, and the couple had two sons, Yip Chun and Yip Ching, both of whom were martial arts specialists. They too are still active with Wing Chun teaching to the next generation.
